The Jerash and Amman Expedition from the Capital is a full-day tour from Amman that combines one of Jordan’s most important Roman archaeological sites with the capital’s best-known historic landmarks. After pickup from your Amman hotel, travel north to Jerash and explore Hadrian’s Arch, the Oval Plaza, a Roman theatre and the Cardo Maximus with an English-speaking guide.

Day-01 Amman to Jerash – Ancient Jerash and Amman City Highlights
Meet your guide in the lobby of your Amman hotel at 8:00 AM and depart north in an air-conditioned vehicle for Jerash. The archaeological city lies approximately 45 km north of the capital, with actual driving time depending on your pickup location and traffic.

Begin your Jerash visit at Hadrian’s Arch, built to commemorate Emperor Hadrian’s visit in AD 129. Continue through the archaeological site to the Oval Plaza, one of the city’s most recognizable public spaces, before seeing a Roman theatre and walking along the colonnaded Cardo Maximus. Together, these landmarks give a clear picture of the scale and urban planning of ancient Gerasa.

After exploring Jerash, stop at a local restaurant for your included lunch. Beverages are not included.

Return to Amman for the afternoon city tour. Head first to Citadel Hill, where the scheduled sightseeing includes the remains of the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace complex, along with wide views across the capital. Continue downtown to the Roman Theatre, then spend time around the Downtown Souk, where traditional shops and everyday city life create a different contrast to the archaeological sites visited earlier.

Finish with a stop at King Abdullah I Mosque, known for its prominent blue dome. After the final sightseeing stop, transfer back to your hotel in Amman, with the current itinerary scheduling drop-off at approximately 5:00 PM.
