  • Day-01 Amman – Umm Qais, Jerash & Ajloun Castle – Amman
    An Ancient Temple in Jerash - Planet Travel Advisor

    Begin with pickup from your hotel or a designated meeting point in Amman and meet your English-speaking guide. Travel northwest for approximately two hours to Umm Qais, the site of ancient Gadara. Explore its archaeological remains, including the theater, colonnaded street and mausoleum, while enjoying wide views toward the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights and the Yarmouk River Valley.

    Continue south to Jerash, approximately 1.5 hours away. Walk through the archaeological site and visit the Oval Plaza, Cardo Maximus, Temple of Artemis and the North and South Theaters. Take time to explore the surviving Roman-era architecture before continuing with the day.

    Stop for an included lunch at a local restaurant, then drive approximately 45 minutes to Ajloun Castle. Built in 1184 by Izz al-Din Usama, one of Saladin’s generals, the fortress occupied an important strategic position in northern Jordan. Explore its towers, chambers and ramparts while learning about its military role and architecture.

    After the castle visit, return to Amman, with the drive taking approximately 1.5 hours. Drop-off at your hotel or designated point concludes the tour.
